WHAT IS IT?

Our HAPPY SCALP blend is a sweet fragrant oil known to help clear pityriasis capitis (cradle cap).

Cradle cap is a non-contagious, harmless condition that causes a newborn’s scalp to turn yellow or brown-ish, crusty, and scaly. Two causes that could be the contributing factors for cradle cap in babies are:

  • Hormones that are passed from the mother to the baby before birth. These hormones could trigger too much production of oil in the oil glands and hair follicles.

  • A yeast (fungus) called Malassezia that grows in the sebum within the hair follicles, along with bacteria.

Geranium - why is Geranium Rose our key ingredient in this blend? Not only does Geranium smell good, its oil helps protect little growing bodies with its antioxidant, anti-bacterial (against about 24 different kinds of bacteria) and anti-inflammatory effects. It’s also a natural astringent to help build your baby’s skin.

Rosemary and Tea Tree – are classic do-everything oils! – anti-septic, anti-microbial and stimulating for a healthy looking scalp.

Lavender - the tried-and-tested oil that does it all: anti-bacterial, antiseptic, calming and cleansing…

Note - please be aware that the baby’s skull is not fused at this stage and so no excessive pressure should be applied to the fontanel area (front top of head). That is why we recommend a soft bristle brush to gently massage oil into the scalp.

HOW TO USE:

For use on the skin only. Apply 4 drops to the top of the baby’s head and use the natural hair brush to gently massage the oil into the scalp.

WATCH OUTS:

Store in an upright position, out of direct sunlight and keep out of reach from children.
